Taylorsville High School: 5 Taylorsville Schools on Lockdown Amid Search for Shooting Suspect

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Authorities placed five Taylorsville schools under secure protocols on Friday afternoon as police searched for a suspect connected to a nearby shooting incident.

According to the Taylorsville Police Department, a juvenile was shot in the leg during an altercation near the McDonald’s located at 5400 South and Redwood Road. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect, also a juvenile male, fled the scene and remains at large as officers continue their active search in the surrounding neighborhoods.

As a precaution, the following schools were placed under secure protocols:

  • Fremont Elementary School

  • Hartvigsen Elementary School

  • Plymouth Elementary School

  • Taylorsville High School

  • Vista Elementary School

Under secure protocols, all school activities continue inside the building, but no one is permitted to enter or leave until police give the all-clear.

Law enforcement remains on site to ensure student and staff safety, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Parents are urged to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.

This developing situation has left the Taylorsville community on edge, but officials emphasize that the lockdowns are precautionary and that there is no immediate threat to students inside the schools.
